BRDrivingSim and BRDrivingSimEX Driving Simulators (U.S. Roadways)The BRDrivingSim series of simulators are fully interactive driving simulator designed as a driver testinmg, training and research. It is used in a wide variety of applications including driver distraction training, driver performance assessments, driver cognitive research, and many others. The BRDrivingSim series of driver simulators are currently in use in schools, universities, hospitals, research laboratories, as well as specialized driving programs (see link below for list). The driving simulators each consist of 28 driving scenarios and 2 driving tests which expose the driver to a wide variety of driving situations in urban and rural environments. While providing the opportunity for training basic driving skills, the emphasis of the driving scenarios is on high-risk, situational training not normally available with in-vehicle driver training. Driving scenarios include safe traffic following practice, passing passenger cars and large trucks with opposing high speed traffic, confronting road hazards, diagonal and parallel parking, emergency braking, driving in heavy urban traffic, night driving, experiencing the effects of 'black ice', left turn into oncoming traffic, freeway entry and exit, driving in fog, and others. (see downloadable brochure below for more details). BRDrivingSim model simulates a passenger car with automatic transmission, instruments and turn signals. Engine, turn signal, horn and other sound effects are also provided. For each scenario, performance data such as collisions, speed limit violations, following-to-close, brake reaction time and others are displayed, time stamped and stored in individual files which can be read with any word processor or database application. The BRDrivingSim model comes equipped with the Thrustmaster™ RG Pro steering wheel and pedal set. The set provides a 9.75 inch diameter force feedback steering wheel, 270 degrees of rotation, as well as a view control, drive/reverse button, horn, and turn signals.
BRDrivingSimEXThe BRDrivingSimEX model uses the same basic simulation software as the BRDrivingSim model but has been designed to be used without the need for a PC keyboard. Simulator controls such as Pause, Help, etc. are accessible directly from the EX wheel/shifter unit. The BRDrivingSimEX model comes equipped with the Logitech™ G27 steering wheel/pedal system. The G27 is one of the most advanced and realistic PC steering wheel/pedal systems available. The BRDrivingSimEX model is recommended for those who require steering wheel and pedal control performance that more closely approximates real-life vehicle controls. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is a full 11 inches in diameter and has a full 900 degrees of rotation (2 and 1/2 turns). Pedals are height adjustable to allow for toe/heel style operation. The helical gearing allows for quiet operation and the twin-motor force feedback system provides the driver with more realistic steering force feedback than other PC wheels. Steel pedals give the driver solid throttle, braking, and shifting control for heightened realism.
